Last year the Final Whistle won Newark branch pub of the year and county pub of the year. They followed that up earlier this year by again winning Newark pub of the year. As such they once again went through to the next level of the national competition: County Pub of the Year.
Five excellent pubs submitted by the CAMRA branches in Nottinghamshire were judged against the nationally set criteria. The results for top place were remarkably close but once again the Final Whistle took top spot. The Final Whistle is Nottinghamshire County Pub of the Year 2026, making it two years in a row for this award-winning pub!

All the entries were of exceptional standard with the runner-up being the Mallard in Worksop.
The entries were:
- Brown Cow, Mansfield
- Final Whistle, Southwell
- Mallard, Worksop
- Old Green Dragon, Oxton
- Wheatsheaf, Bingham
There will be presentation at the Final Whistle on Saturday 23th May at 2pm, all are welcome to celebrate this fantastic achievement.
