It has become apparent that some of you are having difficulty in downloading the Beer Festival Staffing form as linked to in the last emailshot. We suspect this is because it is being blocked as a .doc (Microsoft Word) document. We have changed the format to pdf. This should now allow all browsers to download the form. The 2014 Newark Beer Festival is almost here – requiring help from Wed 21st to Sun 25th May – and I am hoping to enlist the service of volunteers (new and old) to work the annual event. Sadly this year’s Newark Beer Festival is taking place without festival stalwart Nigel Brown, who passed away last October. Nigel worked tirelessly along-side myself, backstage and behind the scenes for many years. His life-long interest in rock music made him a familiar face around the local music scene, his infectious enthusiasm rubbing off on many that came into contact with him. Seven ‘Beer Belles’ from the Newark branch of CAMRA (The Campaign for Real Ale) were up at silly O’clock to travel to Lincoln Green Brewing Company Ltd, Hucknall to brew a one off beer, especially for Newark Beer Festival. T shirts for the 17th Newark Beer Festival are now available. Black, with the Festival logo on the front and the slogan ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder’ on the back, they come in M, L, XL and XXL and are priced at £12 each. They are obtainable from the festival itself, or if you want one before, they can be picked up from Just Beer Micropub.
