Springhead Brewery will be holding its 1st Annual Beer Festival on Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th April at the Robin Hood site in Laneham, Retford, Notts. St Georges day 23rd April

The Malt Shovel will be holding a St Georges day ale day on Friday 23rd April featuring many appropriatly named beers, including Crusader, Lions Pride, Bombadier, Hook 303AD to name but a few. Two of the beers will be on sale at £2 a pint, there is free Yorkshire pud with beef & gravy in to all customers. In the evening there is live entertainment with a Madness tribute band.


Say no to cold beer!

I picked up a beer mat in Nottingham on Saturday that instructs ‘Say no to warm beer’. The beer mat in question is for Carling ‘Extra Cold’. What the hell are the ‘brewers’ thinking of? The tiny bit of flavour Carling might have had, even after filtration and pasteurisation, will certainly not be detectable after it’s served at just above freezing. Or perhaps that is the point? Bass decline

I was dragged into the Old White Hart last night for a Christmas social and meal. The food was very nice as it happens, albeit in micro-portions, but I was disappointed to find the single hand pump on the bar standing redundant.
